Pick a real tournament, start a pool or join one, and fill in your bracket before it locks. Scores update as the real results come in. Can’t find what you need? Email privacy@brckts.app.
1. Playing in a pool
- Join a pool from an invite link, or from Join a public pool on My Pools. To start one, choose a tournament on Browse and pick Start a Pool.
- Fill your bracket: predict the group stage, who qualifies and every knockout match, then submit it. Only submitted brackets count. You can edit it until the pool locks.
- The pool locks at its deadline, usually the first match it predicts. If your bracket isn’t in, you’ll get a reminder email the day before.
- After the lock, you can open everyone else’s bracket from the leaderboard. Before then, picks stay private.
2. Scoring
Each pool owner chooses how their pool scores; the pool’s Rules page shows its exact settings. Unless the owner changes them, points are:
- Group matches: 1 point for the right result. In exact-score pools, 1 more for the exact scoreline.
- Group order: 1 point for each team you place in the right position, or 2 for a whole group exactly right in pools that score the group as a whole.
- Qualifiers: 2 points for each team you predicted to reach the knockout that does.
- Knockout: points for each team you correctly predicted to win its match. They grow each round, up to 12 for picking the champion.
- Third-place match: 3 points for its winner, if the tournament has one.
Owners can instead score every correct pick as 1 point, or double knockout points each round. Ties go to whoever has more exact scores, then whoever picked the champion, then whoever submitted first — or the owner can let tied players share the rank.
Projected and confirmed: while groups are still being played, the leaderboard scores current standings, which can still change. Switch to Confirmed to count only outcomes that are final.
3. The pot
A pool can have an entry fee. brckts keeps track of who has paid and how the pot splits between the top places. It never collects, holds or pays out money: the owner collects entries and pays winners, and the pot is yours to keep. When the owner settles the pool, everyone gets their final place and their share by email, if they’ve turned on pot updates in Account settings.
4. Running your own tournament
- Create a tournament from My Tournaments. Set its format, add teams, and lay out the group stage and knockout bracket.
- Publish it when it’s ready, so people can start pools on it. Publishing can also create a free open pool for you.
- Enter results as matches finish. Standings, the bracket and every pool’s leaderboard update straight away.
- Invite co-owners from the Owners tab to help enter results. They can do everything you can.
For the big public tournaments, brckts enters results itself and checks them against a second source every day.
5. Fair play
- One account per person. A pool owner can add players who don’t have an account, and fill in their picks for them.
- Picks stay private until the pool locks, so nobody can copy them.
- If a result is corrected, scores update with it. Points always follow the real result.
- A tie in a group that comes down to fair-play points or a drawing of lots waits for the organizer’s official order. The places it decides stay open until then.
